I really really wanted a pakt. Saw a bunch of YouTube videos for that + similar options. All were between $250-$350. tomtoc was well less than $100. Let me run down why I am so over the moon about this bag (plus some areas of improvement for tomtoc)- Build quality. Top notch. They say it’s made out of recycled bottles. Is it? Guess so, but the material does not feel cheap or flimsy. Already been on 2 flights and 1 weekend getaway. Still looks new.- Size. It’s 40L, perfect for a long weekend for 2 or a week for 1. I just got back from 5 days away and had clothes + sandals + toiletries + laptop + iPad + cables. Whew!- Comfort. Pretty comfy, and the pads on the back keep my back from sweating. Love that.Design. Got a lot of side looks and friends/family commenting on how swank it looks. One person even thought it was a Pakt. Again, for well less than $100, can’t complain.- Convenience. LOVE all the side pockets! Going through TSA and having to shove your wallet, keys, and phone in quickly before the scanner is SUPER convenient. Also, being able to quickly get into the overhead on the plane and pull out cables and such without having to open or move around the bag is great.A couple of points of improvement:- The area where you put your clothes can only be accessed after opening the “tech” part of the bag. I kinda get why, because it would conflict with the side pouches for the water bottle. Me personally I’d give up the water bottle for the convenience of accessing either compartment independently- The utility and convenience of the bag goes through the roof once you pair it with travel cubes. Why not include a small set to get people started? I bought a set of 4 for $25 and they rock.

I’ve gone through several of these, the latest being an Osprey, which was ridiculously expensive. I am TOTALLY happy with this purchase. Everything about it provides ease of access and comfort.It arrived well packaged and on time, with an extra layer of plastic inside to help protect it. Not that it really needs it as it’s very durable.The shoulder straps are well positioned and very sturdy. Overall, construction has nothing lacking. It has handles in all the right spaces and places and the zippers are easy to locate.The interior design for pockets and storage is perfect. It’s easy to get to anything and the ability to get in through the side, or to just open everything up is a great option.Like I said earlier, I’ve had several of these and I’ve put them all through their paces. Either for traveling in the air, or hiking 15-20 miles. This is the perfect bag for carry-on, and then you can take it on a long hike.

Hi. I am a backpack addict. I have about 10 backpacks more or less and not counting the sling bag I recently got. My go-to bag is my eBags Professional Slim. It’s a 9/10 but it doesn’t have space if I want to take off my hoodie. It’s not designed to do that. I have eBags motherlode carry-on that works well with the slim but I am not taking it with me when I go to Europe and Asia in three weeks. So I need something that looks good, I can put it on my back but also carry a change of clothes if I want to be fresh when I land. I reviewed a lot of bags of 40L type and a lot of them are about half the price of this bag but I have the Tomtoc sling and love it so it only made sense for me to get the big brother. It arrived today in style. I was impressed with the inner box, sleeve, and tags. I immediately took everything out of the eBags Slim and started to fill the Tomtoc. Obviously, the change of clothes for the 14-hour flight will wait but my MacBook Air fit snugly and the zippered pouch for the cables and plugs was a no-brainer. There are two zippered areas, one on the top and one on the front. The one on the top was for my EDC flashlight, gum, toothpicks, wipes, and sanitizer. The front zippered area holds my passports and an EDC multi-tool. I struggled to find a place for my pens, extra batteries, USB C adapters, and such. I haven’t found the right spot or perhaps it doesn’t exist, ( I hope that’s not the case ) If there’s a small inside pocket or small zippered pouch inside, it would be ideal for such things. The backup plan would be to use a small ziplock bag for those things and keep them in the front zippered pouch near the passports. We depart in three weeks and return in 9, I’ll provide an update then but super impressed with everything. One more thing, a lot of the other bags at half the price have their brand name plastered on the front and I just didn’t want that.

After buying several of these back pack style bags that can work as a personal item, I finally found it in this bag. It’s not huge but it’s not small either. I carried it today as my personal item and it was sturdy and easy to carry. Love, love, love it

This is probably the best travel backpack I have ever owned in my 70-years. Comfortable to carry, easy to store in an overhead bin with plenty of room to spare. I recently returned from a 4-day trip and packed the following items: 16-inch MacBook Pro, 11.9 iPad Pro, chargers and cables for these and several other electronics that I carried in a small bag, 1 pair running shoes (Hoka), 6 pair socks, 5 t-shirts, 1 pair running shorts, 1 sweatshirt, 1 pair long casual pants, 1 pair long running pants, packable jacket, bandanas, 2 belts, 1 dirty clothes bag, 1 quart bag of pretzel nuggets. I can highly recommend this bad for short duration trips, or even longer ones if you don’t mind doing laundry on the road.

Used this as part of a 13 day trip. I should have bought 2! The airlines will allow backpacks but made us check roll on luggage. This bag held tons of clothes especially when using packing cubes.The zippers are well made and the straps are easy on your shoulders. Love this bag!
